—Presence Server (CUPS)

Cisco Unified presence server (CUPS) provices IM, status information, ties into exchange

allows phones to be controlled by the PC.

//Enabling a user for Presence

1. System -> licensing -> Capability assignement

For each user enable CUP + CUPC

2. Assign a device -> Phone + line to the user.

end user -> user -> Device association + add phone

3. Enable CTI on the phone /line (on by default)

4. // Creating a soft phone for a user

For UPC version 8.x + create a device -> phone using the phone type CSF

For UPC version 7.x and Bellow create a device -> phone using the UPC Type.

UPC type must start with the name UPCxxxx

5. Associate user with CSF device

End user -> User -> Device association -> add the new soft phone

//Setting up a CUPS server for the first time

1. enter hostname of CUCM server.

2. Enter IP address of CUCM server

3. Start the AXL server on the CUCM server (Module Cisco Unified Servicability -> tools -> Service activation -> start AXL service)

4. Create a service user account (User Accounts -> end user -> Add)

5. Create new user group + add AXL API service *CANNOT BE A COPY* (User management -> user group) Under the main list there is a “I” to select roles

6. Assign rights to the user (Add group Standard AXL API access)  User management -> user group

7. Enter AXL details on the CUPS server

How to setup voicemail with prence server

1. Application -> Cisco Unified personal Communicator -> mailstore //pull voicemail using imap

2. Enter server details

1. Application -> Cisco Unified personal Communicator -> voicemail server //people can leave messages

2. Enter Server details

3. Assign voicemail server to the users (Application -> Cisco Unified personal communicator -> Voicemail profile)

4. Add new, set the default profile (sets for new users)

Setting up control of the IP phone by the soft phone on the PC

1. Application -> cisco unified personal communicator ->  CTI Gateway

2. enter settings + Make default.

1. Application -> cisco unified personal communicator – > LDAP

2. Enter settings

3. LDAP Profile assign
